Finding Tina Season 1 Episode 1

Road Trip To Mission Tinna
Hello bro? Already awake? Yes, just gotten out of my bed few minutes before you called. Hurry up, I am already dressed up and checking on the car. Okay, what about Kevin? “Kevin is already dressed up waiting for us” great in 30 minutes time I will be done, I said to Marvin a close friend and a colleague. Truth is, I was still in bed, you know those chilly Saturday mornings when it drizzles and you not going to work, you just want to have all pillow cases in this world under head and neck plus that comfy duvet providing you with that ka-warmth you need to dream and fantasize on how you going to make millions? Yes, those Saturdays when you want to be the boss and have your madam serve you tea in bed yet you are a bachelor? Yes, this was one those days.

On this day, we having coffee with two close friends Marvin and Kevin both of whom are like brothers to me; we all have each other’s back no matter the situation. That’s how close this three PMK were (Worry no more, PMK stands for Peter, Marvin, and Kevin) that was our code name. “Hey guys, finally I get to know the whereabouts of Tina”, I proudly said to the crew. Kevin almost choking on his coffee while Marvin the quick Think-Tank of the PMK crew just sat there scrolling on his phone as if I had said nothing. “Dude you can’t be serious, how many years now? 14 years later? And you still thinking of Tinna?” Kevin retorted “Maybe he is speaking of a different Tina not that childhood teenage fantasies he keeps telling us” Marvin said, still not bothered and still on his phone. I am going for her and you two must accompany me, I said.

Tina had been this childhood crush whom I didn’t get a chance to say hi to despite the fact that she was a neighbor. I was so stricken by her beauty and humility back then, and close to 15 years later I still have her in my memory. Click  Love behind the Curtains to read more on my escapades with Tinna back then.

“Yes”, putting away his phone Marvin began, “Where is she? And when is the mission?” Look guys, where she is I will tell you, the exact dates of the mission, we have to decide. As for her whereabouts, she is back in her village Apida, in Migori county Nyatike district. “You are not serious, you are crazy please take your coffee we get out of this place, it’s getting late” Kevin always never willing to take risks said.  Sounds interesting, do we know her exact location? I could drive all of you down there so long as you Pete services and fuels my car. Unknown to this two ninjas, one I have never been to Nyatike, two I am not sure whether she is still there, three I only remember the name Tina. All this while, I acted as the stero, (Staring), I will fuel and service the car plus provide you guys with lunch. Four, I didn’t know where on earth I was going to get ksh.10, 000 (100 USD) for this mission at this time of the month but the mission had to be accomplished.

So we agree to go on the following week, one of the advantages of having a car on such occasions, is “Service and fuel my car, I drive you”, you service their car, so the service fee is struck off their monthly budget, and they in turn offer  to drive you at your cost. The mission well planned out, each of the PMK is in agreement and everything fell back to me. Remember, I was only told of her likelihood current place, I have never been there, I only knew of her first name and I got only ksh.2000 (20 USD) in my pocket.

But the stero I am, I made few calls and raised the remaining amount. Rushed to my computers’ Google maps tried locating Nyatike, printed it out but this was not so clear. I had to think, and think real fast before the weekend, I had to locate Nyatike and Apida. I had an idea, social media a powerful tool, “Unyounyo (step by step) to my Facebook page, settings, remove friends (Remove Kevin and Marvin). Un follow friends (Un follow Kevin and Marvin). Very sure both could not get access to my Facebook page. Remember all this is done at 11 pm at night, knowing the two ninjas are heavy sleepers. Back to Facebook, Updates states (“What is on your Mind?”) then I typed “Guys who has been to Nyatike in Migori County?” Sent there for work related issues and don’t know directions. Few minutes later I get a myriad of replies; some saying use Google Maps, some load my phone I will be telling you directions as you drive down the place. But there was this particular lady who in boxed me with her contacts and told me could be of help, I thanked heavens then sent her a thank you note, we had a deal and I sent her an emoji with a smiling face.

30 Minutes after the update on Facebook was made, I had my assistance, first I had Tee’s number from my inbox and I also had the option of using Google Maps. Immediately delete the status update (Are you sure you want to delete this update? yes), back to settings and gosh the devil was at work (Saitan), how on earth did I forget that Mark Zuckberg and his engineers at Facebook headquarters had never deemed it fit to add a button for adding back friends who you accidently removed without them necessarily having to accept you back? (Okay I know I was malicious when removed them but.  ...) probably Zuckberg knew, such a button was not ethical as is my case. I close down Facebook, call Tee and thank her for her offer (I noticed she had a very good voice, I told myself Tee could be Mission 2 if Tina Mission 1 failed) and went to my phone, clicked on the reminder App and typed: Remind at 5 am Saturday to add Kevin and Marvin on Facebook (Your guess is as good as mine, I was planning to get their phones while in the car and add myself, I told you I was a stero).

Phew, everything was in place, Money, enough bundles for Google Maps, printed Google Map with directions to Nyatike (You can’t trust a smartphone with 4G/3G network in such areas, I am always forced to shift to 2G which is a slow as a lady who is applying make-up), I had Tee’s number and lastly, in my mind I knew I was going to insist that I seat on the back seat alone. So I could use my back up plans to get directions to Nyatike and could easily borrow their phones to add them back on Facebook without anyone of them noticing.

Was I not a genius?

My Diaries 1. Author: Bree.K From my diaries, about Mind Games, and how the modern gal and the modern dude wanna control each other... Let me get this right, so what’s bae? Is it an acronym that stands for ‘ before anyone else ’ or the shortened version for baby or babe? (according to google). This word lost meaning to me after my last encounter in a  situation-ship , lol, let me just say the last encounter with a guy I shared most of my teenage memories with. (You know those stupid happy lovey lovey moments, when you are this hot high school gal, that every Tom, Dick & Harry is yearning for?) Story for another day... to be continued ... Back to mind games and I stand to be corrected; I don’t think anyone in my generation still believes in marriage...(Can't believe I just said that) Dating has to be the sweet-bitter experience, yes we hang out, take selfies with the magic selfie-stick, post them on instagram, create love stories with them on  snap chat ,...
