Finding Tina: Season 1 Episode 3

Finding Tina: Failed Mission
Click on Love Behind the curtains then Finding Tina: Season 1 Episode 1 and Finding Tina: Season 1 Episode 2 to read through the previous happenings before embarking on this one.

At the back of the car no one spoke, I guess we all felt disappointed and wasted but in my heart in knew everyone else was silently blaming me. To my comfort, I told myself that if anyone tried to bring up the topic of the failed mission, I would stand firm and ask them whether I forced anyone down here. Thank God no one did, so we had a smooth way back till I heard Marvin ask whether anyone was of the idea of spending our night in Kisii town before we embarked on our journey the following day. Even before I gave my response, Kevin silently replied saying that would be a great idea, I was forced to also agree to the same albeit reluctantly.

Look, it’s not like I love night travels, in fact I hate them,  sleeping in Kisii meant extra expenses on my side, supper, accommodation and the next day’s breakfast. In my pocket I only had a thousand bob Kenyan shillings (10 dollars) after all the expenses throughout the day. At this juncture I knew I had to think very fast, so I made calculations, on average hotel accommodation plus supper and breakfast would cost around two thousand  Kenyan shillings (20 dollars) per individual, that simply meant I needed close to six thousand Kenyan shillings (60 dollars) to foot this bills. Remember I only  had1K in my pocket. So I leaned at the back seat of the car and prayed, I thought of faking sickness, like serious stomach upset, with these I was sure, in the spirit of humanity and brotherhood, I would be taken care of, probably driven to a nearby hospital, thereafter I had the option of playing sick throughout the journey, but this move had a disadvantage, I knew Kevin would still ask me for medication money, he is that type. So I ruled this idea out.

As I sat there thinking, we had arrived in Migori town and so I knew we had like two hours before we reached Kisii town, enough time for me to look for the extra 5k shillings to add to the 1K already in the pocket. Sportpesa yes Sportpesa was the only way to risk. You see, my bank account was empty; my M-shwari account already had a loan, thanks to Tina and this journey.  Being a Saturday, we had plenty of English premier league games going on, I placed a multibet for the whole a thousand shillings that I had, which was supposed to realize a total of six thousand four hundred and twenty Kenya shillings, plus the betting amount, I was worth 7k, and this is where my torture began.

All Sportpesa battalion will tell you that nothing is more torturous like a multibet, there is always that satanic team that would frustrate your bet earnings. As we drove to Kisii my concentration was on the live scores on the Sportpesa site, all my times had already scored but one team was obviously out to frustrate my life, first half was over and the team Manchester United to be specific not scored let alone make any shots on target, despite the fact that they had the likes of Martial and Rooney in the field. Poor play, this is probably the reason as to why, I have never been a fan of their play let alone the team as a whole, I am a diehard Arsenal fan. The goner opted to sleep and let fate take its course; I was not going to force a team very far away in England to score so that I receive some money from my bet, more so when their top strike Rooney was just not into the game.

Very fast asleep, I had this dream where I had won some jackpot money that changed my life, I now had a car, a house in the city and back at home and opened up a business which was doing very well. On this day I had finally met Tina and was driving her around town, telling her how much I loved her and asking her what kind of wedding she wanted for us, I was the happiest man on night. Finally I found Tina, and I was not going to let her go, so I picked a ring from pocket and was about to propose to my love before Satan happened in form of Marvin’s voice, “We Pete, ebu amka utushow place poa ya kulala” Ever felt like slapping someone so hard? That is exactly how I felt, but I woke up and as I stepped out of the car, I remembered Sportpesa, quickly I got my phone and was about to check the scores before the golden message came to my phone, I had won my multibet.

Ever felt so happy that you would cross your legs on the table and send your Dad bread in the shop? The kind of happiness that you would walk into a police station and slap the OCS? Yes, that kind of joy that would send you to walk on Thika super highway with your head high and some bouncing little bit as the president’s motorcade waits for you to pass over? That is how I felt, I quickly withdrew the money to my M-pesa account before the Sportpesa guys decided to reverse the money, and you can’t trust anyone with your money these days.

We found a place to eat and sleep till the next day, when we embarked on the final journey to Nairobi, of course we bought some matoke and fresh veges on our way back. We had all seemed to forget about Tina before Marvin cheekily asked, Pete when are we going to Kisumu? End month, I answered. “Sure, my car is always available so long as it’s fueled and serviced” This is the day; I decided within me that I needed to seriously think on owning a car. I would also love to tell guys to “Fuel and service the car”

Mission Tina was still on, a mission that left me with debts but mwanaume ni effort they said? See you all in Kisumu!
