DEAR KARMA: I have a list of people you Missed!

I have watched with sorrow and amusement how men and women with "privileged positions" in the society, rejoice, merry and disrespect those whom they perceive as unprivileged. With a deep heart, I have painfully read the braggadocio hatred on Instagram posts, tweets, and Facebook Posts. The attitude of "It's our time to eat", "Kwani Mtado?", "Catch me if you can" is well illustrated on the posts. Celebrations, Joy, and Merry when evil and injustices are meted on the supposed sons and daughters of "the Negroes" is much appalling, reminds me of John and Dan. Once upon a time, there were two gentlemen John and Dan, "Both John and Dan grew up together in the same neighborhood, played together and were best of friends. Dan was from a well-off family, whereas John's family was of peasant farmers who could barely afford a meal. Several years later, life happens and Dan is now a big man in the city and John still hustling...

Dear College Student,

Sorry, I am on your case again, you may be wondering why? It's pretty simple, I care so much about you and want to share with you some realities that most people won't tell you. I have tested both and I am generous enough to share with you my experience. Like you, I also took pride in being a campuserian (Yaani, hakuna kitu ungenishow, mimi ni campus material). By then, I knew I had achieved a Major life goal and everyone around me deserved to know that fact and salute me. When I walked outside the gates of my college, on my graduation day, the world honored and saluted me. Everyone was happy for me, I was a HERO. Unfortunately, none of this people dared to tell me what was waiting for me, beyond the campus gates. This was a very new experience, I had to hustle hard, to fit into the other end of the world (Outside Campus). My friend, bills had to be paid, that only meant one thing, put the graduation gown aside, get outside and begin hitting the road from manual work (...

The Pain of a Mother!

... her tears are always steady like a river, they drop daily but they are never visible to the human eye, hers are tears of pain, tears of worry, tears of love; unlike you and I, her tears will never be seen dropping down her cheeks, for that would be a sign of worry for everyone, and that, she doesn't want. THE MOTHER! The pain of a mother is the pain of love . She carries our pain, cries on our behalf, shields us from harm and always watchful of us, no matter the distance of our roof to that of hers. Her protective eye is omnipresent. But what do we reward her with? What do we payback for all her tears and worries? Sadly so, it's more pain, hurt, disrespect and ungrateful attitude. Her pain of love.  On this day, I board a matatu to my resident. The vehicle was already full and the only space left is a small space at the seat just behind the driver's seat. Normally, this seat is designed to accommodate three passengers, on this day I am the fourth passenger, I occ...

The He Mother!

...whatever you say, Pete, a man must look good Bessie said looking deeply into my eyes. Everyone who hits the hustle road from Monday to Saturday, and they only have Sundays as a free day to them, will agree with me, what a holiday, especially a holiday that falls on a Monday, means to them. Flashback, during our college days, perhaps we are all naive and nervous, we clear college with 1001 expectations. I can remember, my last day in college, was filled with lots of pride and expectations, for one, being a graduate of commerce, I saw myself working in a bank, driving a posh car and always dressing in clean suits and shiny shoes. In fact, in my mind, I had already seen myself getting hooked up to some yellow-yellow light-skin lady who was going to be the mother to my two beautiful kids, a boy and girl. I was already falling in love with some unknown imaginary beauty queen, who was going to parade this banker (Pete) on her social media pages with captions such as #Bae, #MyDail...

Finding Tina Season 1 Episode 4 The House Party!

Oya Marvin, any plans for Easter? I made the call to him,  indoors bro, no plans, my lady will be traveling to Maasai Mara for team building with some friends he responded. Then let's do Kisumu, I said, he shouts back saying, Tina! Yes, Tina, let's find her, besides you can't stay indoors for four days, I say to him sighting the long Easter weekend that was ahead of us. Okay, deal! Hello, Kev, coffee this evening? It's on a Thursday Lunchtime, just after the call to Marvin, the next day being Friday (Easter holiday), I needed Kev, to accompany us to Kisumu, but there was one challenge, his lady was in town and that only meant traveling together with her or better still Kev, remaining. As I respectable person, I knew I had a lot of convincing to do, to make Kev, travel with us, and leave Kelsy, his chic, behind. NO, I was not going to have us travel together with Kelsy on some Goose Chase, and lose the respect she has for me. So, a coffee chat had to be set, to con...

Dear Hon. Raila A. Odinga

RE: Interview on Citizen TV with Hussein Mohammed  Sir, I have have seen an advert on Citizen TV, of your impending interview with Hussein Mohammed this coming Thursday. While I respect Mr. Hussein Mohammed, as one of the best news anchors in Kenya and a journalist of moral standing, I don't believe it would be a good move to grant this interview. The Kenyan Media has proven now and again to be lenient to the government that has been their largest source of income through government adverts till recently and hence cannot be trusted to hold an objective interview, especially during this electioneering period. As NASA, Jubilee is also strategizing to win the general elections. One strategy they would use is to use the media interviews by you and other NASA co-principals, to learn your plans and strategies. This could be through, well-scripted sets of questions by Jubilee strategists handed to journalists who will be holding interviews with your team. I believe, it wou...

His Excellency, Honourable Isaac Kiprono Ruto?

A lot has been said about one, Hon. Isaac Ruto, current Bomet Governor, and Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) party leader. The former Council of Governors chairman has been the biggest thorn in the flesh for jubilee party, for the simple reason of appearing to wreck a perceived already consolidated voter base/stronghold (Rift Valley). Rift Valley region, voted almost to the last man for the Uhuruto duo during the 2013 general elections, that saw jubilee win the elections. This being the deputy president Hon. William Ruto's backyard and jubilee's stronghold, it is understandable why Isaac Ruto has been a headache to Dp Ruto who has the task of ensuring that he delivers the Rift Valley voting bloc. Dp Ruto has been traversing the South Rift section of the Rift Valley region, popularizing Jubilee Party while ensuring that Isaac Ruto's CCM does not gain ground in the region. This is a more of Goliath - David battle, Dp Ruto is a political heavyweight, with government machinery,...

Jubilee Primaries, what next for Mike Sonko and Peter Kenneth?

After the Friday, April 21st, 2017 Jubilee Party Primaries, the following scenarios will likely take place If Sonko beats Peter Kenneth for the Nairobi Governor ticket, Peter Kenneth, need not worry because he is a "Sure Bet" for a powerful cabinet slot that will give him visibility and devoid of controversies (I am thinking Devolution Ministry) if Jubilee party wins presidential elections. Strategy? Statehouse 2022 if the powers that be favors his candidature. On the other hand, if Peter Kenneth wins the primaries, Sonko may have little chances or none at all for nomination or appointment to Jubilee's cabinet secretary team, this is  because of his recent altercation with some powerful forces within the party who seemed to be against his gubernatorial ambitions (You remember the supposed denial of the certificate of good conduct? And the explosive interview with Hussein Mohammed on Citizen TV, where he rubbed shoulders with top party officials, whom he accused...

Dear Friends of Violet Kiambi Gatwiri

About a month ago, I shared here an article titled 10 years later, in 1 hour , for a medical appeal of a very good friend Violet who was diagnosed with breast cancer. First, Asante Sana for your prayers and financial sacrifices. Second, Violet, traveled to India a few weeks ago, she underwent surgery and emerged victoriously, We sincerely give thanks to the HEAVENS. Third, she is recuperating well, and what remains of us is to always remember her & her family in our prayers. What I am sure of, is, she is an OVERCOMER, will OVERCOME, and get her SMILE back! When possible, will keep all of us posted with her recovery process, and I bet somebody somewhere, with a similar case will get encouraged. For now, however, just take a minute and say a pray for her and all other cancer patients! Stay Blessed and have a great evening. SHALOM! # InPrayersForVio

10 years later in 1 hour

Seated behind is a gorgeous queen, seated before her is this little hustler boy, between the two is a tension filled vacuum. This meant no looking behind for the whole lecture but a man being a man, you have to steal glances and each time you do, your eyes meet and you have to cook a story like, "do you have an extra pen? and as if reading your mind, she is there staring deep into your eyes with a killer smile and always ready with an answer for whatever story is cooked up. Was she some magician, some goddess? or perhaps a fortune teller? Vuruta Stool Niwape Udaku.   Life is full of good and bad people, life is always a mystery. So you walk to your hostel that evening and the only thing that is in your mind is how the gods had decided its your turn to enjoy the good things of life.  No sleep that night, "you can't sleep when the gods have decided to bless you" How do you sleep when the world had decided it's your time to have "Angelina Jolie"...
