There Is Hope ~ Deep Think Sunday With Pete . A

Through it all, through it all, I have learned to trust in Jesus, I have learned to trust in God, through it all, through it all, I have learned to depend upon his word....." Andrae Crouch's music hits my ears as I write this article.

Deep Think With Pete. A
"... I am through with college, been tarmacking for the last 5 years, I am the firstborn of a family of six siblings, some in high school some waiting to join college, I am their only hope, I am their only breadwinner. God, where are you?"

"...I recently got a job, after years of hustles, after years of suffering, after years of hardship and hard work, but just the other day I lost the job, just when I finally saw light at the end of the tunnel, just when I had great plans for my life. Is there hope in this world?

"...I have a sick patient who needs medication out of the country, millions of shillings are needed, my family can't raise that money, the patient is in great pain, each time I look at him, tears flow down my cheeks, where is God when we have to endure all this?"

Just but a few sad state of affairs we find ourselves in, state of affairs that make us question the existence of God, state of affairs that make most of us lose hope and live a carefree life because of the pain, the stress, the struggle, the demands are just too much for us to bear. Its perfectly normal to have such anger and emotion, its normal because you are only human.

So on this particular day, I listen to the song "Its well with My soul" composed and inspired by the life of Horatio Spafford many decades ago (1828-1888). I read through his story and I am so touched, blessed, and given hope to live and face the life struggles as they come and still believe in God.
How can a man work so hard, to build an empire of wealth, a leading legal firm, a beautiful family of a wife, four daughters, and a son; A faithful and a devout Christian, lose everything, everything from the wealthy estate, to family and still be strong and say "Its Well With My Soul?" "Ni salama Rohoni Mwangu?"

The story is told of how, at the peak of his financial and professional success, his wife Anna suffered a tragic loss of their young son. As if that is not enough, the great Chicago fire destroyed almost every real estate investment that he had. You would think this is enough, wrong, he schedules a boat trip for his wife and daughters vacation in England, so he sends them ahead as he remains behind to handle some unexpected business, days later he receives a notice that his family's boat had encountered a collision, all his daughters drowned; only his wife had survived. So what does he do? With a heavy heart he boards a boat that would take him to his grieving wife Anna in England, its on this boat trip that he pens down the famous words When sorrow like a sea billows roll; its well, its well with my soul..
"I Will Fear No Evil"

So I read Spafford's story and ask myself, is there a living soul that can take that much? Is there any? then I remember the secrete to Spafford's courage amidst tragedy, after the tragedy is in Psalm 23:4, "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

A time comes when there is nothing you can do, but just like Spafford, this is the best time to lead a life that will inspire many generations to come, lead a life that will be a powerful lesson for people undergoing such circumstances. At such a time I am reminded of these lyrics "let the weak say I am strong, let the poor say I am rich because of what the Lord has done for us. We give thanks"

For those of you feeling hopeless, there is hope. For those of you in a financial crisis, there is hope. For those of you who are jobless, there is hope. Those who are sick? There is hope. Undergoing a bitter breakup? There is Hope. Yes, there is Hope. Remember, this is the day that the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it, and Psalm 43:5 Says "Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again, my savior and my God.

God Will Strengthen You:-
But those trust in the LORD for help will find their strength renewed. They will rise on wings like eagles; they will run and not get weary; they will walk and not grow weak ~ Isaiah 40:31
