The school is also a global member of the Round Square association of schools worldwide, where they believe that a school should foster courage, generosity, imagination, principle and resolution so that children emerge empowered with the skills and abilities to be the leaders and guardians of tomorrow's world. They endeavour to provide the security and guidance necessary for children to achieve their potential in a friendly and supportive but academically rigorous atmosphere.

As such they commit to the Round Square ethos by considering the six foundation pillars of Round Square as central to their holistic approach to education, augmenting our intrinsic commitment to academic excellence. A large on-site boarding facility at the Karen campus provides accommodation for 200 students.

The academic year at Brookhouse is divided into three terms. Term 1 runs from mid August to mid December, Term 2 from January to March, and Term 3 begins in April and ends in mid June. Students attend seven 55 minute class periods per day. There are 37 weeks (180 days) in the school year. Final examinations are taken in June, and constitute 100% of the grade allocation by the UK examining boards.

School Year: Academic year starts in September, holidays and mid-term breaks generally similar to UK private schools

Curriculum
  1. From pre-school to secondary, Brookhouse utilizes an adapted form of the British National Curriculum to structure its academic programme.
  2. In the Primary School various assessments are used to diagnose academic progress in relation to age peers, leading to the Common Entrance examination at 13+.
  3. At secondary level, the Brookhouse curriculum follows the University of Cambridge Board UK system of a two year IGCSE course, usually taken across nine subjects, followed by ALevel study, where three subjects are normally taken.
This two year linear course prepares students for their final A-level examinations, through the UK Cambridge, Edexcel and AQA Boards. A-levels provide students with a qualification recognised by universities throughout the world.

USA and Canadian universities consider the two years of IGCSE equivalent to Grades 9+ and 10+, and the two years of Advanced Level study as equivalent to Grades 11+ and 12+. The final year of A-level study is considered equivalent to an Advanced Placement or preuniversity course; often credit points for the first year of a USA/Canadian university are granted, given the intensive study involved in A-levels

Mind Games. Just Who Is In Charge? ~ Diaries!

My Diaries 1. Author: Bree.K From my diaries, about Mind Games, and how the modern gal and the modern dude wanna control each other... Let me get this right, so what’s bae? Is it an acronym that stands for ‘ before anyone else ’ or the shortened version for baby or babe? (according to google). This word lost meaning to me after my last encounter in a  situation-ship , lol, let me just say the last encounter with a guy I shared most of my teenage memories with. (You know those stupid happy lovey lovey moments, when you are this hot high school gal, that every Tom, Dick & Harry is yearning for?) Story for another day... to be continued ... Back to mind games and I stand to be corrected; I don’t think anyone in my generation still believes in marriage...(Can't believe I just said that) Dating has to be the sweet-bitter experience, yes we hang out, take selfies with the magic selfie-stick, post them on instagram, create love stories with them on  snap chat ,...

Listen to Them If You Have To, But Be Sober!!

A Happy Family! "...I will do all I can to keep my family intact.." a colleague once told me . So on this day we are out for lunch, me paying for a promise of lunch. As we discuss other issues, this topic of recent rise in cases of domestic violence and marriage break- ups, comes up. Several marriages are breaking up at a supersonic speed and the main course being one. Mpango Wa Kando (Side Chic/dude), .. A story is told of a friend who swore never to get married again after she found out that her man, her husband a believer had been keeping a side chic for the 2 years of their marriage. That must be painful eh?! On confrontation, the man blames the chic for tempting and seducing him.. (this must be the joke of the year). Listening to my colleague narrate the story as she curses and swears to do all she can in her powers to keep her marriage intact, I suddenly get lost in my wonder world wondering what is becoming of the institution of marriage. Just why can...
