HILTON BOYS COLLEGE

HILTON BOYS COLLEGE: This is South Africa's most expensive school specifically for boys.

At the gates to Hilton, the following is inscribed

“Enter these gates with humility, determined to contribute to, and to take advantage of, all that this institution offers, and depart knowing that you are well equipped to forge your future in the world.” -  This captures the heart of the serene Hilton place for all Hiltonians.

Hilton College was founded in 1872 as an inter-denominational Christian College and Christian worship, values and principles are the foundation of College life. Pupils attend chapel service twice a week, including Sundays.

Confirmation preparation, Bible studies and Youth groups all enhance the spiritual life of the school. The school chaplain meets with academic classes once a week to discuss spiritual and life skills issues.

About 40% of the school pupils come from Anglican backgrounds; 15% from Roman Catholic; 13% from Methodist; the other denominations are less than 10% each. Pupils from non-Christian religions are able to attend the College and respect is shown to them and their faiths along guidelines laid down from time to time.

Chapel services are open to all visitors and parents. The details and times are published outside the chapel and in the term calendar..

Here, every pupil is assigned a tutor, a member of the school’s academic staff, whom he has to meet weekly. The tutor is assigned to make sure that pupils are fully involved in the school’s activities.
The tuition is 1.9M Kes ($298,600) per year. The boarding school is located near Hilton town in KwaZulu-Natal.

From the Headmaster George Harris:

Hilton aims to be deeply traditional and refreshingly contemporary.  This necessitates much conversation among all stakeholders as to how this is achieved and celebrated.  The world has become a fast-changing place and young men of the future will need to be grounded in their person, with enduring values firmly established, such that they are in a position to embrace and conquer the challenges of the future.

At the heart of this goal is a plan for every boy who attends Hilton.  It is our endeavour to know every boy; to challenge him both individually and as a member of a team; to stretch him in his formulating his opinions and world-view; and to ensure he gives of his best consistently.  To this end, we have high expectations of each boy.  At the end of his years at Hilton College, he should be a determined, persistent and humble young man, ready to tackle the next phase of his life and equipped to make his mark in whatever he chooses to pursue.

Hilton College offers the promise of significance.
